I love that Spiderman wallpaper! I'm using The Beatles - Abbey Road wallpaper right now. I saw it in this topic a few months ago. Been lurking for a while now and finally decided to make an account.

$75 for a website template?? Doesn't sound like your charging nearly enough money. That should be closer to $400 IMO.
When I pay for logo design or a website, I pay by the job. I usually get a quote before we begin. I paid $100 for a logo design.

I guess I have to look at as many pricing sources as possible and and try to distill some figures? I have the "Graphic Artist Guild" handbook, but those prices are through the roof. I imagine they're for seasoned professionals working for major clients. Thanks again!

Congrats to the four new Mods. I think it's safe to say they're all universally respected members of the forum and are great choices.
With MR becoming ever more popular it has become harder to effectively moderate these boards, especially with the international flavour we've got going on here! I'm sure the new Mods will do a great job and will keep the MR community spirit going. Congrats again guys :)

I have one of the newer mac mini's (server) with the HDMI out port on it. I am using the machine as a home theatre pc.
Friday night I rented a HD movie from Itunes and attempted to play it on my 50 inch plasma. I received the message that my display is not HDCP compliant and that I could not play the vidoe.
I looked up the specs on my Samsung PN50A650 and found the following statement about HDCP that states the display is HDCP compatible. The only other issue that may come into play, was that I had my EyeTV HD recorded plugged in at the time, I disconnected the device, but the video still did not play.
Does anyone know why I can not display the HDCP media? Is there a test file I can use for troubleshooting since the rental has expired? (Apple refunded my money by the way)

HTML is a markup "language". It can't be used for dynamic stuff like that. To write to a file you need a server side scripting language, as client side stuff can't do that (unless maybe you're using a Java applet). Take a look at php.net for more info...

You should tell that to my wife who has an Android phone and finds that it doesn't really even seem to be well adapted to phone-related situations. She's constantly having problems with it, particularly with freeze-ups and crashing.
I think it's more truthful to phrase your sentence like this. "Android is a powerful mobile OS that can be shoehorned into many situations but can do none of them very well."
Was it the phone she had issues with or android. It could just be a ***** phone running android. Or android sucks for her. I use android and i have no issues. I use a very cheap android phone at that so i should get plenty of random shutdowns but i never do.
My friend returned his HTC Desire HD and bought the iPhone 4. Android really cannot satisfy many users.

Because you have to count everything for the android such as tablets, ereaders, Tvs and everything that is sold with a licensed version of android. Domino, on the other hand, is pure garbage. I remember working in a 20 person company back in '00 where we had a Domino server running on a dual 500MHz PIII server with 2 gigs of RAM - very expensive at the time. It was very hard on the poor machine. It was choking. And the only three things the server was used for were email, very basic scheduling, and a billable hour tracking app. Not that that server is any speed demon by modern standards... But a non-Domino system having the same functionality would not have created any measurable load on the server at all with only 20 users. Did I also mention the server was less than stable? And I still remember how SP6 for NT completely brought the damn thing down... Ouch.
Well, the company where I have work has 30,000 email users and it runs perfectly on a 8 Core AIX Power5 machine, so I'm not sure how a dual p3 couldn't handle 20 users unless it was very poorly configured.

Does anyone have any experience/recommendations for binding a NAS to Open Directory for user/group authentication? A number of NAS will authenicate to Active Directory, but apparently OS X Server's Windows support is well below par to support this. QNAP have a firmware update expected July/August which will inbclude wider LDAP support, but is there anything that will work now?

How anyone could seriously think that 16 years behind bars, even with a television, is a cushy way to spend a life is beyond me. Who here would volunteer?
:eek: you've got to be joking right now. it's not supposed to be cushy, it's supposed to be horrible, and it's supposed to last until the day they die if they don't get the death penalty. before we were talking about life in prison without parole versus the death penalty, and now you're saying that someone who is currently death penalty worthy in the states should be put in prison for 16 years and thats sufficient? Let's be clear because i don't want to accuse you of implying something you're not. Is this or is this not what you are saying?

Edit: and I still think the first way to get on that road to being a grounded adult is to get out of his freaking parent's house. Until then, he should have to experience exactly the parental attitude that Chundles (sarcastically) described.
