TJ Maxx bought them at retail to sell in their stores.
They're definitely taking a loss. A very limited-run loss.
Earlier this week, a small number of T.J.Maxx and Marshalls stores received a very limited quantity of first quality electronic tablets that were sourced from a retailer.http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/11/19/how-to-get-on-steve-jobs-naughty-list/

Hi,
Just to give a quick backstory; I spent years going back to school for design and at last I've finally acquired my degree. I now have a budding freelance business with a handful of small clients, all of whom are relatively civil, good natured and appreciative of my work.
Recently a long distance client I really get along with referred me to someone. He hired me to do a logo for his marketing startup. He was pleased with the end result and asked me to take on a second project, designing a mockup for a website that he could then turn over to a developer. He set a time limit of 3 hours, because that's all he could afford. Everything was going fine till about 2 hours in. He liked the direction I was going in, so while I was waiting to hear back I did some small revisions (off the clock), just to satisfy my own design sensibilities. I sent them to him to see what he thought. He suddenly calls me saturday afternoon and from the get go, seems to have an attitude. He wants to go over all the revisions I sent him. So I scramble for my macbook. As I'm going through my folders in search of the files he starts getting flustered and belittling. I offer to call him back in an hour after I've gathered everything and before one of us says something we'll regret, but he wants to stay on the phone and takes an even more offensive tone. I'm a laid back guy, but I had enough and firmly reminded him that I was trying to design a site for him within a 3 hour limit and had been good enough to not bill him for all the phone time he insisted on and had even stopped the clock a couple of times. He then startled to backpedal and complimented me on my work and how fair my pricing was ($25.00 an hour). The conversation went on for about another half hour as in the aftermath we awkwardly discussed the project. I think I did a pretty good job of remaining diplomatic. I've now just about completed the project and now he's talking about having me design a business card:rolleyes: The whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth. I know there can always be an element of stress with any type of work is, but that was a bit much.
Sorry for the rant, but I felt like I needed to vent to fellow designers. Anyone else have any horror stories?:)
That is in no way a nightmare client. TRUST ME!!!! Nightmare clients are like one I had where he was on the phone every two minutes basically telling me what to do, essentially using me as a Mac monkey. Then when the 3 month project turned out to look like a steaming pile of crap he refused to pay.

I want retribution, so do most americans. Glad we got it. And please define "destroyed", those countries were radical muslim wastelands and iraq had an evil dictator. They were pretty much destroyed as it is. Just like dirty trash bins attract flies and rats, those countries attract terrorists. Your solution to just leave the middle east alone is counterproductive, ignoring bullies never worked. Your country tried that with hitler, how did that work out for you?
Don't fool yourself, this has nothing to do with going after bullies or being the good guy.
Where are we with Mugabe (Who I'd argue is definitely as evil as Osama)? Where are we with Darfur? Or some other various countries in Africa that have some really evil people in it.
Shoot, we have supported the bad guys before (Central America for example or for that matter we supported Saddam Hussein at one point and even Stalin with propoganda telling people how Stalin was our friend and I'd argue Stalin was probably more insane than Hitler. Hitler learned propoganda from Stalin as well) because it was in our better interest.
Don't go thinking the US always supports the good guys or goes after the bad guys. There's a reason the terrorists can convince people we're evil and join them. It's a myth that "they hate our way of life" and more that we've supported people who haven't been so kind in the middle east.
In the end a lot of our follies ended up due to the fear of communism. So now instead we have the fear of the religious terrorists. I wonder who we'll end up pissing off now with our policies of anything (and ally with anyone) who we think will help us against who we dislike (Even if who we ally with are not nice people themselves).

Very Simple Question, is their any other way to find you and watch your posts as whole besides going to each individual section of the forum to find and then look at your post?

I'd suggest putting "2Gn iPod Shuffle" in future articles to avoid confusion.
There's already enough confusion about the whole GB vs Gb thing, I suggest we drop the whole "G = Generation" thing and just write "gen." already (acronym for generation).
And since software works in versions, how about "iPod shuffle v2" if "2nd gen. iPod shuffle" is too long to type?

I used to have a program on my Mac that would let me play an audio file and it would let me highlight a moment of time and tell me what note is being played. This was really handy for figuring out bass notes that are too difficult for me to normally here.
Does anyone know of a software like this?

I don't think its fair that your studies are funded by the government and mine are not
Unfortunately that's something I have no control over, take it up with your government. Remember, if you live in a democracy they work for you.
I know i'm making money as an attorney, but so is Loren on the many, many other projects he has going on for him.
So he should make Tweetie for free because he makes money elsewhere? Can you see where this argument falls apart? This would be like you representing people for free because you have a second job somewhere. Loren can charge whatever he wants for Tweetie because he made it, and people can decide whether or not they want to pay what he's asking. What he's asking is more than fair IMO, so I have no problem paying. How anyone could think that what he's asking isn't fair boggles my mind.
My point is, each of us has our own lives to support, because really when it comes down to it, no one else is giving us a free ride...well except for you and thats not really fair.
I'm not getting a "free ride". I will be working for the NHS for the rest of my life, that's why they help fund (and participate in) my education. It's estimated to cost around 250,000 to train a doctor, so if the NHS didn't pay for the training of their staff they wouldn't have any! I will add that I pay the same fees as all other university students (3,250/y).
Well then to educate you, in America, no one gets a free ride. We're all for ourselves here, and then we have to pay taxes up the ass for the people on welfare who mooch off of the welfare system without really doing anything. No ones gonna help me with my law school loans even though the work I am doing will benefit many, many people. I will get a small government salary (criminal prosecutors do not make a lot of money at all, thats why so many attorneys try to go to private practices and big law firms, to make that 6 or 7 figure income). Does that seem fair? No.
Loren has complete control over what he asks for Tweetie, he's not dictated to like someone with a salary is. Salaries are dictated by supply and demand, capitalism, not fairness. So are app sales, if people don't think what Loren's asking is fair they won't pay it. But anyone that can say $3 isn't a fair price is silly.
It's your decision whether you work at that salary, it's also the customer's decision whether or not they pay for the update. If the pay isn't fair then quit. If the app's too expensive (in your eyes) then don't buy it.
In regards to criminal prosecutors, do you not have any form of trade union to fight for your cause (and salaries)?
Loren is gonna be ok, whether he had charged for Tweetie 2 or not. He has many other things going on, many other products, and he gets paid for those lectures he does.
So again, he should make Tweetie out of the goodness in his heart and give it away free? You don't know his situation and even if you did it's not your decision to make. He put the work in, he made the app and therefore he has the right to charge whatever he wants. Tweetie is a great product, one that he deserves to be compensated for. It's worth way more to me than the $6 it's cost me.
In America, we thrive on customer satisfaction.
And customer satisfaction should breed generosity, which translates into profit. I'm satisfied with Tweetie, hence I support it.
I personally do not feel Loren did enough with Tweetie 1 in satisfying his customers before going ahead and charging full price for an "update." And his excuse that Apple didn't provide an upgrade path is a cop out. I read his tweet on the decision; he did it because he "had the balls to do it."
What Loren meant was he had "the balls" to stand up to the toxic app store environment for developers. Which you will find most developers really support and admire him for doing so.
He should at least go back to Tweetie 1 and upgrade that as much as possible until he can't anymore. He stated that he wanted to do things to Tweetie that were impossible to do without rewriting the app from scratch. Thats fine, but you can't leave your old customers out in the cold like he did. People paid for Tweetie 1 without knowing that Loren would be pulling this stunt off. Thats not fair to them, they deserve to be satisfied, they paid a fair amount and got ditched, bamboozled, baited and switched.
They paid for Tweetie 1. They got Tweetie 1. They did NOT pay for constant updates which are at the discretion of Loren. They are NOT entitled to free updates for life, or x number of years. Again, that's at Loren's discretion. Loren did not leave customers "out in the cold". Tweetie 1 works just as well as the day he sold them it, and will continue to do so.
I don't know where you got this idea of an entitlement to updates from, because it's nowhere in the contract you made when buying the app. You aren't entitled to free OSX updates, or for any other kind of software.

Just where everyone is thinking of heading. Also does anyone know how the Apple store is going to do things since it's inside the mall?
I'll be hitting AT&T on Sheridan. Plan is to arrive early sometime Friday morning and then roll into work bleary eyed but victorious.
